Friday Fragments?
This week’s Friday Fragments, which is brought to you by Mrs. 4444, is about something that I’ve found I’ve taken quite a liking to. Black Friday!

The reason this post is a bit late today is because I’m running on about 4 hours of sleep. Last night at about 9pm I decided I was going to take part in the Black Friday sales. Crazy, I know. I was planning on going to Toys R’ Us at midnight when it opened, but thankfully called their 24 hour hotline first because I found out that their doorbuster sales would be available online at 11pm. Great! I didn’t have to leave my house to partake in some of the fabulous deals. But after I saved 45% on the doorbusters online, I was wide awake….and looking for more deals! This is where saving money parallels crack…..once you start, you just can’t stop or go to sleep.

I stayed up until 1am searching various websites, but was cut short by my youngest, who needed to eat. I eventually went to bed at almost 2am, but found myself wide awake again at 6am when my youngest woke up for good. Sure, I could have gone back to sleep, especially since I had only 4 hours of sleep, but my mind instantly focused on the fact that there were more deals to be found. So, 45 minutes later, I was in the car and on the road to do more shopping! By 10 am, I had been to 3 stores, spent some more money, and of course, saved a bunch. After I came home (and okay, went BACK online to get the last few gifts that I didn’t find on my travels), I felt as if I hadn’t slept in a week. And here I am, typing this post, barely able to form a complete sentence.

The stores weren’t as bad as I was imagining, although I wasn’t there when the doors opened. Still, people were ransacking the toy aisles, searching for any trace of clearance items that might be left and had accidentally been pushed behind other full-priced toys (or perhaps, strategially hidden by someone until they returned later – haven’t we all done that?). I barely brushed my teeth and splashed my face with water before leaving the house, so I am pretty sure I didn’t smell too great. Especially after the sweat started. But, when on a mission, no one seems to care what others smell like, right (or so I told myself)? I’m also pretty sure that somewhere along the way I started morphing into Jessica Rabbit since I had missed a feeding. Luckily for me, no one seemed to notice. Although, I am starting to wonder if I might have been able to get additional discounts if I had brought attention to those bad boys. Hmmm…..

Was it worth the lack of sleep? You bet. I saved about 50% on all the toys I bought and I am done with my Christmas shopping. But I am pretty sure I will be going to bed by 6pm tonight!

Hmmmm….let’s see, what else do I have? Just a couple of other random things before my brain seriously stops working.

I’d like to thank Mrs. 4444, Angelia, and Cheryl for helping me reach my goal of 100 Google readers by Black Friday. Thanks ladies! Make sure to check out their blogs.

As many of you have commented, the look of my blog has changed. I’ve been working with Jo-Lynne at DCR Design and she’s been great! There are a couple of minor touches still left to do, but I’m already in love with the new look (and header!).

Ok, that’s it. I don’t have any clue what time it is, what day it is, or even what my name is at this point. Thank goodness Black Friday only comes once a year! Goodnight!

Bravo on the finishing of Christmas shopping! I bought a couple of things on line last night, too. I also read blogs until 3am, so I'm starting to crash right now….Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

I love Black Friday. It is one of the only days I don't mind waiting in line and the crowds

I would seriously rather chew off my left arm than go shopping on Black Friday. Really. But for your sake I am glad it was not a terrible experience!

I love how you combined both the online and 'in person' aspect of Black Friday – sounds like you did great! Maybe I'll take your cue and try next year… ;)

I thought I was already following you, but apparently not…it's been rectified now, though! LOVE your new header! :)
