in poll question answer

Poll Question Last Week:
If you won an all-expense paid trip, which country would you travel to?
Here’s how the answers broke down:
China = 0%
Australia = 45%
England = 25%
Brazil = 8%
France = 16%
South Africa = 1%

I was hoping that England would win because I know quite a bit about it (and haven’t been to the other countries….yet!). You see, I am married to a British man.

I know what your first question is: “Does he have an accent?”
The answer is “YEP!” I honestly hardly notice it though. Partly because we’ve been together for 7.5 years and partly because it’s mellowed since he’s been over here (for 8 yrs). But trust me, every other female notices it and immediately wants to hear him speak. About anything! He could talk about taking out the trash and women would think it was sexy (I should know because my aunt told me this!).

So your next question is probably, “Does he have bad teeth, because I’ve seen all 3 Austin Powers movies and his were horrible.” He’s got perfectly straight teeth actually. And they’re all white!

And the last question I sometimes get is, “Does he know Prince William or Prince Harry?”
Ok, I know England is a relatively small place compared to the States, but I assure you that it’s not THAT small! I mean, if you live in Washington DC, do you get asked if you know President Obama?

Another cool thing about my British hubby is that he’s traveled to tons of countries. He even lived in Australia for 5 months. I think the Europeans often travel before throwing themselves into a lifelong jail sentence of working like their US counterparts usually do.

So when I asked my hubby, The (Un)Experienced Dad to tell us a bit about the top two countries from this poll, here’s what he had to say:

Hubby: If you ask a Brit what England is like, they will probably say, “In England, it rains a lot, people are depressed, and it’s expensive.”

Me: Ok, that’s all pretty true. But England gave the world The Spice Girls, Coldplay, and ABBA, so it can’t be that bad of a place. Plus, I think it’s cute and quaint!

Hubby: Actually, ABBA is from Sweden and The Spice Girls are a part of history we’d rather forget.

Me: Ok, so tell me about Australia then.

Hubby: The weather is awesome in the summer, which is our winter. The atmosphere is fun, open, relaxed and typically stress-free. There’s so much to see and fun things to do. There’s rainforests, the Great Barrier Reef, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and of course Sydney, which could keep you busy for weeks.

Me: Great, so when are we going there?

Thanks for taking part in last week’s poll. Don’t forget to vote in this week’s poll on the right side of this blog.

Also, as my way way of saying thanks for reading the blog, I hope to help someone knock one gift off of their holiday shopping list with my FIRST EVER GIVEAWAY starting THIS WEEK! It’s a gift that’s sure to please, so stay tuned for details!

OK, I'm pretty sure I was the only person who voted for South Africa. I LOVE accents, and I think SA has the BEST accents. I'm jealous your hubby has a British accent… mine just has a good ole' boy Texas drawl!

Hey, I like almost any accent since I don't have one!

I do love SA's accents and Australian's too. I think a loy of people get them mixed up with a Brit one though b/c lots of people ask if hubby is from Australia.

Thanks for the button grab…once my page is fixed, you'll see yours!

I voted for England! I'd love to go to any of those places though. Anywhere really… I need a vacation!
I'd have to agree with your hubby, Spice Girls were awful!

My ILs are Brits. That's why I chose that as my #1 place to visit (even though my MIL drives me crazy! lol) My husband was born here in the US though. The ILs have lived here for many years. (I wouldn't mind if MIL moved back…did I say that out loud??)

I voted for Australia as though I wanted to do a year of work&travel there – until I met my husband ;-)
And England is very near to here…
So I'd rather prefer the US slang than the British accent although it's better to understand for non native speakers.
