I was recently approached to review a baby product I had never heard of before called Fandangling. Never heard of it? Then let me introduce you to it…
Fandangling is the new generation of toy mobile for babies. It was created by a mom by accident when she was on the hunt for something that would keep her daughter amused long enough to get something done around the house. After sharing the product with friends, she quickly realized that Fandangling was not just for babies, but older kids enjoyed it as well.
What does Fandangling look like?
Simply put, Fandangling is a set of five miniature plush animals that hang from a ceiling fan. While babies love looking at ceiling fans already, adding these colorful and friendly decorations engages them even more. And older kids will like that they can add their own style and personality to the fan.
How Does it Work?
When I received my Fandangling, which was a set of blue dolphins, it took only minutes to set up and start using. Since they are on a short ribbon that velcros securely to the fan, there’s no need to worry about children pulling on them or getting caught in them. They’re easy to install and safe to use.
The Trial
I laid my five-month old down on the bed under the ceiling fan and turned it on. He was immediately intrigued by the fact that there was something else to look at besides the wooden fan blade. He was mesmerized with the Fandangling for a minute or so before he started to look away. So I decided to lay down next to him to look at it from his point of view. I soon realized that he probably looked away because it was hard to focus on the swinging dolphins for very long before getting a bit dizzy. I turned the ceiling fan off and realized that as it started to slow down, he was again mesmerized by the Fandangling. When it came to a stop, even though the fan was stationary, he was still looking up, smiling at it, and kicking his feet.
We only have one ceiling fan in our house currently, so I was unable to try it out on an alternate fan. Since our fan doesn’t have very many speed settings, I came to the conclusion that our low speed was still a bit too fast to enjoy the mobile in motion. However, I am sure that others’ fans may have an even slower low speed which will allow for enjoyment in action. In any case, my little man enjoyed it even if it was still!
The Verdict
Fandangling is a great alternative to a standard crib mobile. Cute and easy to use, it’s the perfect blend of enjoyment for baby and safety that every mom wants. No more annoying mobile winding or searching for batteries. There are various kits to choose from and you can even build your own! Use it for yourself or give it as a baby shower gift. In addition to being a great product, 10% of all proceeds collected are donated to charities. It’s a win-win situation…you get a great product and a charity benefits! Find out more about this product on the Fandangling website.

All right, let's get this party started…
First, my comment: I think this would be an adorable addition to G's room, or any other future (and currently not-conceived) baby that might come into our family.
