Truthful Tuesday: Excuses….We All Have Them!

I’m joining my gal pal Elizabeth in her Truthful Tuesday meme. Her question this week is:

What’s the best excuse you ever used
to get out of an obligation like work, school, or chores…
And did you get away with it?

I don’t have a great story to share about how I played hooky from school. I’ve never called in sick and then hopped on a place to Vegas. I’ve never pretended to be my mom and call myself in sick at school (although, I did know how to forge my mom’s signature pretty darn well!). And anytime I went somewhere fun, like the Oprah show, I made sure to take an official vacation day. Think about it…if I’d lied about being sick that day, I wouldn’t have been able to tell others about what a cool experience it was!

I guess the only ways I’ve gotten out of work or school are the old-fashioned ways: pretending I was more sick than I actually was. We’ve all done it and our mothers all fell for it. And when our time comes, so will we.

There was also senior ditch day, but I was expected to ditch school that day! It’s a rite of passage. We headed down the city that Monday after our senior prom and had a blast. Just don’t ask me about the guy we stuffed in the trunk of a sports car for the entire 45 minute drive (I promise, he did it willingly and didn’t suffer any injuries).

Head on over to Confessions from a Working Mom to take part OR leave your answers here!

And don’t forget to enter to win a Dove pampering prize pack from the “Campaign for Real Beauty.”

Hey, we never had a senior ditch day! BTW, what’s up with the guy in the trunk???

Oh, that would be a friend of mine in high school. He wasn’t the, um, brightest. ;-) No room left in the Talon, so we offered to jump into the trunk. Who were we to deny him that fun?

Your answer reminded me of a time I DID call in sick to work (my very first job in TV) and hopped a plane to Denver to visit my best friend! It wasn’t spur of the moment, though; I’d plotted out my sickness for weeks in advance!

I tend to use the sick excuse to get out of work…I mean, I have the days so why not use them?!?!

My mom always says to tell people that you have explosive diarrhea because that will get you out of anything.

LOL! Sort of like saying you have “Female Problems.” Most likely, no one will delve into that one for details.
